WHY CHURCHES PARTNER WITH WELLSPRING?

First, most churches do not have the staff available to them to counsel the people in their congregations. Often, it takes a great deal of time to intentionally counsel someone. Most often when a person comes to a church for counsel with either emotional, mental or spiritual matters, the time it takes goes beyond just an hour or two over coffee—time that is very limited for a staff person or pastor to afford.

Secondly, the issue of liability is a real and serious problem staff and pastors often are not cognizant of when working with hurting people. Counselors are mandated to hold malpractice insurance as well as practice in specific ways which limit liability.

Wellspring Counseling was founded in part to help those churches who could not afford to hire a full-time staff person who was a licensed counselor. Wellspring's ministry is designed in a way so that churches can have someone always on call to help them in providing care that goes beyond what a pastor or staff can manage. Many churches consider Wellspring Counseling their own counseling ministry for their church without having the undue expense of staffing and programs.
